We were there to attend a family wedding. The bar service was appalling they ran out of glasses after 2 hours in the day and the prices were ridiculous for the type of hotel it was. They charged £1.80 for glasses of coke or lemonade that they poured from bottles that you can buy in supermarkets. In fact the lemonade had on the bottles that you could buy 2 for 90p yet they charged £1.80 for a glass!

When we arrived we were given a room which was supposed to be anExecutive double, down some stairs which turned out to be next to basement kitchen where there was continuous noise and staff throwing bottles into bottle bank outside our room. Very basic room which really was in no way Executive. We complained and Manager gave us a choice of Room 20 - which was equivalent to same room as we had been allocated and Room 30 which was obviously more of an upgrade and should be classed as Executive Double. Very nice looking over front of hotel gardens and we were more happy. Breakfast was served on cold plates, food was cold. We definitely will not be back

    Fabulous

The room was a great size with four poster bed.

    Superb

    Friendly and helpful staff

Noise transmitted from the room above, due to the thin floor structure. We disturbed by insomniac guests overhead , talking and walking round several times during the night!

    Good

Lovely location in the west of Cumbria, and looks fantastic and welcoming

It felt like it didn't deliver on its promises and its looks - staff were OK, bed was lumpy and it just felt slightly tired. With a little focus could be so much better

insufficient choice and quantity of vegetables at dinner.

    Superb

The staff were very welcoming, the room was comfortable and we had a lovely stay

The evening meal was not very warm but the breakfast was very good

    Good

    Friendly service. Good breakfast

Very uncomfortable matress on the bed. Absolutely appauling sound proofing between rooms. We had a poor night's sleep due to the people staying in the room above us. When they walked across the room we could hear every footstep, and we could hear everything they said. They weren't being noisy; the issue is the soundproofing.

the evening meal and the breakfast were to be complimented for their quality and variety

the bed in room 9 had a very old and uncomfortable mattress. the bathroom did not have anywhere to put a sponge bag or toiletries. also it was impossible to turn the shower on. we also had to ask for a second chair in the room and the room itself was very small

Excellent staff, good room size and decent bath.

only downside a bit dated and room was musty.

  • 6.2
    Good

Staff were excellent. Disappointed with the room - video didn't work but staff very helpful and sorted out Play Station. No games room or facilities for children. Breakfast was also excellent and again, staff were first rate.
